Inequalities

The analysis of the inequalities, found in terms of the effort spent working in the online community by each individual member, is an interesting case study to characterize the evolution of virtual groups. I have studied the distribution of inequalties by means of the Lorenz curve and the Gini coefficient.

The ineq package in GNU R provides extensive support for these and other statistical tools to measure inequality distribution. Among other interesting tools, the package provides the ineq function, supporting calculation of several inequality coefficients like Gini, RS, Atkinson, Theil or Kolm, as well as automated tools to depict and analyze Lorenz curves.
